Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 May 2026

1. Who we are

Converterse (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website converterse.com, a free online unit conversion tool. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our service.

2. Information we collect

Converterse is designed to be privacy-first. We do not require accounts, sign-ups, or personal information to perform conversions. The data we may collect is limited to:

  • Local preferences — theme (dark/light) and recently used converters stored in your browser’s localStorage. This data never leaves your device.
  • Anonymous usage analytics — aggregate page views and browser type (no personally identifiable information).
  • Server logs — standard web server logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) retained for security and abuse prevention for up to 30 days.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

We group cookies and similar storage into four categories. You can accept or reject each category independently from the cookie banner or the “Cookie settings” link in the footer:

  • Strictly necessary — required for the site to function (theme preference, security tokens, your consent choice itself). Cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics — anonymous traffic statistics via Google Analytics (page views, browser type). No personal data is shared with us.
  • Advertising — lets Google AdSense serve ads on the site and measure their effectiveness.
  • Ad personalization — allows ads to be tailored based on your browsing history. You can have ads without this category.

How we know your region: we make a single request to Cloudflare’s public trace endpoint to detect your country, so visitors in the EU, UK, EEA, and Switzerland start with everything denied (opt-in), while visitors in other regions start with everything pre-checked (opt-out). The detected country code is cached in localStorage for 24 hours and never sent to our servers.

Google Consent Mode v2: Google services on this site honor the IAB-compatible Consent Mode v2 signals, so until you grant consent, no advertising or analytics cookies are written.

You can revisit your choice at any time via the Cookie settings link in the footer, or clear cookies and localStorage through your browser.

4. Third-party advertising (Google AdSense)

Converterse may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DART cookie) to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this and other websites.

5. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction or deletion of that information.
  • Withdraw consent for advertising cookies at any time via the cookie banner.
  • Object to processing or request data portability.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email Dixitsheta@gmail.com.

6. Children’s privacy

Converterse is a general-audience educational tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will remove it.

7. Data security

We use HTTPS encryption for all traffic and do not store sensitive personal data on our servers. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted on the homepage for 30 days.
